How Are Blank Guns Beneficial in Use?

  Blank guns, also known as replicas or paperweights, are firearms made with no metal parts. For example, a gun that uses a rubber ball to fire. These guns are primarily used as props in movies and TV shows because they don't actually work by firing off any bullets. The term "blank" is derived from the word "bullet", referring to the fact that they shoot blanks rather than actual projectiles.  These weapons were first used in airsoft arenas in Japan and have since been seen on many popular television programs including Arrow, The Walking Dead, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and NCIS. They cannot be registered and have no serial number printed. In addition, no bullet can be put in the chamber of these weapons because it would defeat their purpose as props.  The firing pin cannot function after the hammer is cocked; therefore, these weapons have no range of fire, are not functional, and cannot be fired.
