  A prop gun is a type of firearm that is designed to be exactly like a real firearm, except it fires foam rubber bullets. The term "propgun" was coined by the United States Army as a play on "propeller guns". Some common types of prop guns include: spring-powered guns, wet-powder discharge props, inflatable props, and compressed gas powered props. These weapons can be used for training purposes as well as with special effects in movies and video games.   The prop guns look like real firearms and fire soft rubber projectiles, with some even using real gunpowder. Some of these prop guns were used by the Japanese police force to train their officers in how to handle situations involving actual firearms.
